Introducing Straumann Exact scanning workflow

The new full-arch TRIOS scanning workflow for Straumann Exact offers a guided, step-by-step scanning experience using Straumann Exact scan flags. The fully guided workflow combines clear animations and on-screen text guidance to support to support you step-by-step, making it easier to navigate the scanning steps and scan with confidence from start to finish. 

The workflow is initiated using the “All-on-X” button in the order from, and completed scans can be sent to any lab with UNIQ account for seamless collaboration. As you enter the 360 scan of the temporary prosthesis and the edentulous scan step, the trim tool opens automatically to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted experience.

Additionally, the generic All-on-X workflow now offers added flexibility with the option to enable or disable the emergence profile scan, allowing you to tailor the scanning steps to your preferred approach.

Improved AI detection for cleaner scan results

AI scan has been upgraded with smarter, more precises detection ensuring unwanted surfaces or objections stay out of your final model. Even in challenging cases with significant tissue removal, you'll experience cleaner scans with less effort. 

Guidance added to help optimize WiFi channel settings

We've added helpful guidance on how yo change the WiFi channel, making it easier to improve scanning performance when connectivity is unstable. 


Resolved issues:

  • An issue has been fixed where RAM usage increased over, causing occasional freezes or PC crashes. 
  • An issue has been resolved where the “Caries Aid integrated scanning” option could not be unchecked. 
  • Improved the message shown when opening a case scanned on another PC in Unite III - the message now clearly shows with PC the scan files are stored on. 
  • An error has been addressed that appeared as “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” during scanning. 
  • Fixed an issue where older Unite II scan streams were not removed during disk-space cleanup. 
  • Corrected an error where users saw “Unable to use apps - app that are not compatible: TRIOS”
  • Updated the on-screen image for wired scanner connection on MOVE/MOVE+ so it shows the correct hardware. 
  • The missing "Enable CAR" setting has been restored in TRIOS scan setting. 
  • An issue has been fixes where users saw “Cannot register background task after the case was deactivated”
  • A problem has been resolved, where scanning could not be started using the physical button on the TRIOS scanner. 
  • The issue where jaws with prepared teeth could become misaligned after post-processing has corrected. 
  • Resolved an issue where the 360 Bit Tray scan could not be re-scanned if the process was stopped mid-way.

This release includes the below mentioned features/enhancements: 

Your TRIOS 6 scanner now supports hyperspectral imaging, unlocking powerful new capabilities and ensuring compliance with the latest EU medical device regulations. 

A short in-software update (that will take just a few minutes) will be applied to enable these changes. 
Once complete, your scanner will be updated with the following regulatory changes: 

  • Change from Class I to Class II in accordance with EU MDR 2017/745 
  • Change of model name from L1P-2B to L1P-2
  • New UDI (Unique Device Identification) added
  • Change of CE marking to include Notified Body Identifier 2797
  • Amended Safety and Setup guide to include information about hyperspectral imaging

This release includes the below mentioned features/enhancements: 

New quality overlay:

We have updated the TRIOS scan overlay guidance to help you achieve the best scan results - more intuitively and efficiently that ever before. Now you can scan with greater confidence, as you will instantly see where more data is needed and, in this way, reduce interruptions or unnecessary rescans. 

The new overlay is enabled by default: this can ne changed in scan settings page. 

The updated scan overlay guidance includes scan quality, that highlights areas that need more data, so you know exactly where to scan more. It is enabled by default in all scanning workflows. 

Our TRIOS 6 customers can now also benefit from our new occlusal oral health images feature. This enhancement provides you with clear guidance on capturing high-quality hyperspectral scans, ensuring you achieve a clear and complete visualization of each tooth from an occlusal perspective. It is enabled by default in the Check-up workflow, and you can enable it in nay other workflow from the scan settings page. 

Workflows with tailored guidance:

To support and guide you in scanning, we are introducing new animations and text guidance, offering you a clear, step-by-step instructions right where you need them. This helps you familiarize yourself with the steps and scan with confidence and achieve high quality scans without needing yo refer to external manuals or guides. The animation will play automatically for the first time and can be replayed anytime via the play icon. 

Dedicated All-on-X workflows:

We are excited to announce that TRIOS now features a dedicated TruAbutment ioConnect workflow, enabling a seamless scanning experience for all-on-X cases using the ioConnect scan flags. The workflow provides the necessary scans for an ioConnect all-on-X case and are accompanied by animations and text guidance. This ensures a clear understanding and navigation throughout the scanning process, making it easy to scan with confidence. 

Alternatively, you can also choose a generic implant workflow in which you will experience a fully guided all-on-x workflow. The all-on-x workflow can be initiated by selecting a bridge with 4+ implants on a jaw in the order form. 

Renamed Baseline scan to Scan only: 

The baseline scan workflow has been renamed to Scan only to improve usability. You can still work with the workflow as previously.

Post processing speed improved by 40%:

The postprocessing algorithm has been improved to ensure a quick and easy workflow. This is improved for all scanners. 

New features added to Scan options: 

Now you can enable Dynamic zoom and Scan quality in the scan options dialogue on the scan page. This will control the default setting for the system. You are still able to toggle scan quality on and off while scanning using the right side panel. 

Resolved issues:

  • Fixed error when loading scan data while opening a case.
  • Adding missing translations for previously untranslated strings.
  • Disk space cleanup now uses the correct cleanup option.
  • Added scans can now be selected in the Post and Core scan page.
  • Fixed an error causing Unite to crash during TRIOS 5 scanning.
  • Unite no longer freezes when switching from Copy Case to Scan Only.
  • Baseline scans can now be reopened without error. 
  • Tooth marking now works in inspection mode on Unite 3 with TRIOS 3. 
  • Second additional scan can now be deleted in the inlay-Core step.
  • Manual bite re-alignment is now possible more than once
  • Bite Clearance Tool view no longer causes jaw overlap in partial scans.
  • Shade numbering has been restored to the tooth button. 
  • Cases now successfully arrive in Invisalign after Stream Import. 
  • The issue of several “please wait” spinners shown on the scanning page and cases list has now been fixed.
  • Check marks now appear correctly when all scan steps are completed.
  • Error message “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” no longer pops up when selecting Shade Measurement.
  • Bite scans now align properly in a case with emergence profile scan.
  • The issue of Shade measurement not updating when the tool is being used after it is re-opened on the scan page has now been solved

This release includes the below mentioned features/enhancements: 

  • In the removable partial Denture workflow, the default scanning mode has changed from intraoral scanning to Edentulous scanning. This mode allows for capturing more of the gingiva, making it easier for users to get the right results without manually adjusting settings. 
  • In the Denture workflow, for the 'Existing Teeth' ‘scan type’, the default scanning mode is now Edentulous scanning, as this mode allows for capturing more of the gingiva, helping users to get the right results without manually adjusting settings.

Resolved issues:

  • The issue where users saw the error message “Unable to use apps” - apps that are not compatible: TRIOS " after updating to TRIOS version 25.3.2 has now been fixed. 
  • The issue on Move Pro being slow at connecting when selecting scanner has been resolved. 
  • The issue on Move Pro “Unable to change wireless channel on Move Pro” has now been resolved. 
  • The issue where users saw the error “USB dongle for wireless scanner is not connected” on Move Pro after coming back from sleep has been fixed.
